6:30 to 7:00 P.M. - Social time and refreshments
7:00 P.M. - Short business meeting and educational program, which usually consists of a speaker. Sometimes a 'rap' session will follow.
(In December we have a Holiday Party at a local supper club.)
Our meetings are free and open to everyone; those with ostomies, or facing ostomy surgery or a continent diversion, their family members and friends, healthcare professionals and the general public.
Use the time from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. to talk to others with ostomies or continent diversions and their families. It is an opportunity to get to know more about them, to share tips on coping with the daily routine of caring for an ostomy, and to enjoy coffee, soda and refreshments.
At 7:00 p.m. there is a very short business meeting, followed immediately by an educational program. The presentations are usually given by a doctor, surgeon, nurse, pharmacist, psychologist or other community professional. Some of the meeting topics we have had include:

Our September meeting is usually a "Rep Night", where representatives from the largest ostomy manufacturers bring information and samples of all the newest ostomy supplies that have recently come on the market. They explain their products, answer questions and usually have many free samples of their products for us to try.
DONATIONS / EXCHANGE OF UNUSED OR
NO LONGER NEEDED OSTOMY SUPPLIES
Our chapter collects unused ostomy supplies from fellow ostomates who, for whatever reason, no longer need them (stoma size may have changed, allergy to the flange or other supplies may have developed, a death may have occurred, etc.). These supplies are put out at each of our meetings and are FREE for anyone who can use them; those who have little or no insurance coverage or just want to try a new product to see if it will work for them before purchasing a large quantity.
After some time, supplies that remain are shipped to ostomates in third world countries who have little or no ostomy equipment. Your unused or no longer needed ostomy supplies can be brought to any monthly support group meeting or you may call any of the people listed on the contact page to make arrangements for them to be dropped off or picked up.

MEDICAL ADVISORS
We have a group of medical advisors (surgeons, physicians, nurses & ostomy specialists) who volunteer to help the group with any medical issues that may arise. They also do presentations at many of our monthly meetings and help to lead 'rap' sessions.
